No. Scaling removes tartar, not tooth. Teeth can feel slightly loose or sensitive afterwards because the tartar that was wedged between them is gone — that settles within a few days.
Routine scaling is usually comfortable, though sensitivity varies from person to person. If the gums are inflamed or the treatment goes below the gumline, we can numb the area. Tell us if you're sensitive and we'll adjust.
